Zee Avi

Zee Avi

Zee Avi - Zee Avi

Zee Avi is just 23 but she's an old soul. A huge talent in a petite frame bringing a universal message from the unlikely birthplace of Borneo, an ancient island east of Malaysia which remains an untouched, natural paradise, an apt description of her songs.

Zee began recording her songs on a webcam and posting them on YouTube for a friend to hear. Before she knew it Zee was on a plane to L.A. to record her debut with producer Robert Carranza at Brushfire Record's Solar Powered Plastic Plant. With an eclectic pool of influences, this self-described "rock lover at heart" captures the dark, bittersweet qualities of romance with a crack left open for hope and optimism.

From Malaysia to Los Angeles, Zee Avi is enjoying the ride and ready to take on passengers.

Trevor Green

Trevor Green

Trevor is from Huntington Beach and grew up on the beaches of Southern California where he spent as much time riding waves as he did strumming his guitar. Trevor began his musical journey listening to his father spin records by the likes of Pink Floyd, Neil Young, and Tom Petty. Not long after Trevor received his first acoustic guitar, he found himself being influenced by such artists as, Jimi Hendrix, The String Cheese Incident, and Michael Hedges to name a few. Thriving on the live performance, Trevor is constantly evolving as an artist. Watching Trevor Green live is captivating, inspirational and innovative. Please watch and listen for his shows and music as he continues to develop new styles and sounds. It is a performance that you need to see and music that you need to hear. You can check him out at www.trevorgreenmusic.com.

We met Trevor Green while down at the NAMM show in California in January 2010. He was performing at Huntington Beach and we were very impressed with his songs and his live performance. As a result we invited Trevor to attend NAMM as one of our guests and while there he provided us with several performances that impressed all in attendance at our booth and confirmed that we were right about our first impression of him and his playing when we saw him at Huntington Beach. At NAMM we also discovered that Trevor is not only an accomplished guitar player but he is also a very skilled lap steel player that would be right at home with the lap steel players that we met at the 2009 Summer NAMM show in Nashville. We are pleased to announce that Trevor is now playing a Cole Clark FL2A and a Cole Clark FL1A-12 and that we at Cole Clark are proud to support him and have him as an endorsee of our guitars.

Jessarae

Jessarae

Jessarae (pronounced Jez-a-rae) has been noted in the music industry as one of music’s hottest emerging young talents. He began writing songs at the tender age of nine and possesses the innate gift of vivid storytelling with the ability to excite and captivate his audiences through his music just as effectively as seasoned musicians twice his age. Unlike most teenage performers, the talented 14-year old singer/songwriter doesn’t play sugary pop, opting instead for classic folk melodies delivered with equal amounts of rock, soul and groove.

Over the last year, he performed at the 2010 Winter Olympics, was featured as a special guest performer at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, and has appeared as the musical guest on various television programs including Good Day Sacramento and Philadelphia’s “The 10! Show.” Other highlights include performances at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival with Matisyahu; The Vahagn Setian Charitable Foundation benefit with Carolina Liar, Suzy & James Cameron’s Annual Lavender Faire; Chelsea Staub’s Harmonies for Haiti at the House of Blues; the Grammy Museum, and the Keep Hope Alive benefit with Gavin Rossdale.

For Jessarae songwriting and performing isn’t just a passion, it’s a necessity – a way to grasp the many intangibles of life and communicate them to the world around him. “I know music is what I’m meant to do in my lifetime,” he says. “And because I truly pursue my passion every day, I am blessed to be able to have the chance to share my music with the world around me.”

Presently, Jessarae is working on releasing a few singles followed by his full-length debut CD to be released later this year.

Jack Johnson

Jack Johnson

The world knows his music. Check out his website.

www.jackjohnsonmusic.com

We often receive emails from our customers asking; "which Cole Clark does Jack Johnson use?" We have had the pleasure of making several guitars for Jack over the years, mostly Fat Lady 1 and 2 series acoustics. You may have also seen Jack playing a semi-hollow Culprit 3 series electric while touring some of the tunes from his latest release, Sleep Through the Static.

The good news for those who love the sound that Jack creates with his guitars is that the guitars we make for Jack all have factory standard specifications... and this is something we are very proud of.

Jack was recently interviewed by Acoustic Guitar Magazine’s Drew Pearce (February 2009 issue), and here’s what Jack had to say about his guitars;

"On my first tour in Australia, Ben Harper introduced me to the luthiers [who eventually formed] Cole Clark Guitars. The guitars are made out of sustainably grown wood (Bunya top, Queensland Maple neck, back and sides) down in Australia. Bunya is a beautiful wood. Most of all, the pickup system is really great for playing live. You get that real nice exact sound from the bridge pickup, but the [Face Brace Sensor] inside gives you a little more off-the-string sound."

In his recent Acoustic Guitar Magazine interview, Jack talks about the origin of his songs and his groove-rich guitar style, and gives some example videos on how to play some of his tunes.

Jay Malinowski

Jay Malinowski

Jay Malinowski

It's not the end. But it is a new beginning. That's how Jay Malinowski is viewing the release of Bright Lights and Bruises, his first foray into the solo world outside of the cozy confines of his popular Canadian band Bedouin Soundclash.

The self-produced acoustic-based album, which will be released on Bedouin's own Pirate's Blend record label and distributed through Sony Music in Canada, February 16, 2010, shows off a different side of the artist -- quieter, deeply personal and incredibly contemplative, it is a sound befitting the catharsis he so urgently required.

Eight years ago, Malinowski and songwriting partner Eon Sinclair hooked up in the university town of Kingston, Ontario and set about conquering the music world with their fan-friendly blend of ebullient ska, pop, punk and soul. Three albums later and a handful of hit singles, numerous awards and nominations, not to mention a steady string of high-profile tours that saw them share the stage with such acts as No Doubt, Ben Harper, Coldplay and Nine Inch Nails, and you'd forgive them for proclaiming 'mission accomplished.
